How to Make Good Italian Anise Christmas Cookies
Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
Cream the softened butter and sugar together in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
Add the anise extract, milk, and eggs one by one, mixing well after each addition.
Incorporate the all-purpose flour gradually, mixing until just combined. Then, add the baking powder and salt.
Prepare your baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper. Scoop out dough into 1.5 tbsp balls and place them on the sheets.
Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the tops of your cookies look dry.
Cool the cookies for about 10 minutes on the baking sheets before transferring them to wire racks.
Mix the glaze by combining powdered sugar, milk, and anise extract until smooth.
Dip the cooled cookies into the glaze and sprinkle with colorful nonpareils.
