Ingredients

Brownie Base

  • 1/2 cup butter Unsalted preferred
  • 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour Approximately 94g
  • 1/2 cup white sugar Approximately 100g
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Approximately 100g
  • 1/3 cup Dutch-process cocoa powder Approximately 33g
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Topping

  • 1 cup white chocolate chips or candy melts
  • 32 pieces candy eyes

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and semisweet chocolate chips. Microwave them in 30-second intervals, stirring until melted and smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, white sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Make sure everything is evenly distributed.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the melted butter and chocolate mixture. Stir it all together until it's smooth.
  • Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until everything is just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Baking

  • Bake for 30–35 minutes. To check if they are done, insert a toothpick; it should come out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Let the brownies cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Then, carefully lift them out using the parchment paper and let them cool completely on a wire rack.

Finishing Touches

  • Once cool, cut the brownies into 16 squares.
  • Melt the white chocolate chips or candy melts. Drizzle the melted chocolate over each brownie to create the look of mummy bandages.
  • While the chocolate is still warm, press two candy eyes into each brownie.
  • Allow the brownies to set for about 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to four days, or refrigerate for up to a week. Can freeze for up to three months.
