Ingredients

For the Caramel Sauce

  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar Consider using brown sugar for a richer flavor.
  • 1/4 cup Water Filtered water for a taste boost.

  • 1 cup Heavy Cream Substitute evaporated milk for a lighter variation.

Instructions

How to Make Caramel Apple Slices

  • In a medium pot, mix granulated sugar, water, and kosher salt over high heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely and the mixture turns a light caramel color, about 5-6 minutes.
  • Carefully remove the pot from heat and slowly add the heavy cream. Stir until the mixture becomes smooth and reaches a low boil.
  • Stir in the cold unsalted butter until fully blended. Transfer to a measuring cup and let it cool slightly.
  • While the caramel cools, wash and slice your apples. Toss the slices in lemon juice and gently pat them dry.
  • Insert wooden sticks into apple slices, if desired. Dip each slice into your cooled caramel, letting the excess drip off. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Sprinkle chopped nuts over the caramel-coated apple slices and drizzle with melted chocolate.
  • Serve immediately or refrigerate uncovered until ready to enjoy.

Notes

For an extra touch, garnish with a sprinkle of sea salt.
