  • 4 slices thick bread (brioche or sourdough)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk or cream or substitute with almond or oat milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder or fresh minced garlic

  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated or use Pecorino Romano
  • 1 bunch chives, chopped green onions as a substitute
  • 2 tablespoons butter or oil for frying

Instructions

How to Make Savory French Toast

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well-combined.
  • Take thick slices of bread and dip them into the egg mixture, allowing both sides to be fully coated.
  • In a skillet, heat butter or oil over medium heat until it’s melted and hot.
  • Carefully place the soaked bread slices in the skillet and fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Once cooked, transfer the toast to a plate and sprinkle generously with grated Parmesan and fresh chives before serving.
