Instructions

How to Make Cheese Danish Delight

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until crumbly. Gradually add cold water, mixing gently until a dough forms. Shape into a disk, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least one hour.
  • In a medium bowl, blend the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Fold in optional fruit preserves if desired.
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick, cutting it into 4x4 inch squares.
  • Place a tablespoon of cheese filling in the center of each square. Fold corners to the center and pinch to seal.
  • Mix the beaten egg with milk. Brush the mixture over the tops of each Danish.
  • Arrange pastries on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Dust with powdered sugar before serving for a sweet touch. Best enjoyed fresh from the oven.
