How to Make Cheese Danish Delight
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until crumbly. Gradually add cold water, mixing gently until a dough forms. Shape into a disk, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least one hour.
In a medium bowl, blend the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Fold in optional fruit preserves if desired.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick, cutting it into 4x4 inch squares.
Place a tablespoon of cheese filling in the center of each square. Fold corners to the center and pinch to seal.
Mix the beaten egg with milk. Brush the mixture over the tops of each Danish.
Arrange pastries on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Dust with powdered sugar before serving for a sweet touch. Best enjoyed fresh from the oven.
