For the Batter

  • 2 cups Fresh or Frozen Cranberries Can use frozen without thawing.
  • 1/2 cup Butter Cold for the best crumb topping.
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 large Eggs Room temperature.
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Orange Zest
  • 1/2 cup Sour Cream

For the Crumb Topping

  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Cold Butter

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (176°C). Butter a 9-inch square baking pan.
  • Sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  • Beat the cold butter, sugar, and orange zest in a stand mixer until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Mix in the flour mixture and sour cream alternately.
  • Fold in the cranberries gently and spread evenly in the prepared pan.
  • Prepare the crumb topping by mixing all-purpose flour, sugar, and cold butter until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle the crumb topping over the batter.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes.
  • Cool in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

These bars are best served warm with a scoop of ice cream for an indulgent treat.
