This savory Florida Shrimp Cheddar Pie combines tender Gulf shrimp, sautéed vegetables, and a creamy custard filling baked in a flaky pastry shell. Crowned with sharp Cheddar, it’s a sunshine-state classic perfect for brunch, dinner, or gatherings.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the unbaked pastry shell into a 9-inch pie dish and set on a baking sheet.
In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, milk, eggs, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and cayenne until smooth.
Add sautéed vegetables and shrimp to the pie shell. Pour custard mixture evenly over the filling.
Sprinkle shredded Cheddar cheese over the top.
Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, or until pie is set and golden on top. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
Swap Cheddar with Monterey Jack, Gouda, or a blend for a flavor twist. Red bell pepper adds more color, and scallions brighten the dish. Add Cajun seasoning or hot sauce for extra spice. Leftovers reheat beautifully!
