Ingredients

Cupcake Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix Any brand of chocolate cake mix.
  • 3 large eggs Room temperature for better mixing.
  • 1 cup water Follow box instructions for any variations.
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil Can substitute with canola oil.

Frosting and Decoration

  • 1 cup chocolate fudge frosting Store-bought or homemade.
  • 12 cookies chocolate cookies (such as Oreo) These form the base of the witch hats.
  • 12 pieces candy corn For the tip of the witch hat.

Instructions

Prepare the Cupcakes

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth.
  • Place cupcake liners in a muffin tin and fill each liner about two-thirds full with batter.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick; it should come out clean.
  • Remove cupcakes from the oven and let them cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frost the Cupcakes

  • Once the cupcakes are cool, spread a thick layer of chocolate fudge frosting on top of each cupcake.

Assemble the Witch Hats

  • Place a chocolate cookie on top of each frosted cupcake.
  • Stick a piece of candy corn on top of the cookie to complete the witch hat.

Notes

Store cupcakes in an airtight container for 3-4 days at room temperature. For longer storage, freeze them tightly wrapped and thaw overnight in the fridge before serving.
