Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then mix in the vanilla and almond extracts.

Baking

  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Drop rounded balls of dough onto the baking sheets, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Let the cookies cool on the sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Decorating

  • While cookies cool, mix powdered sugar with a little water or milk until smooth.
  • Add food coloring if desired, then decorate the cooled cookies with icing and sprinkles.

Notes
