1boxchocolate fudge cake mix
1cupDr Pepper (not diet)
1/4cupvegetable oil
3largeeggs
1tspvanilla extract
1can (21 oz)cherry pie filling
For the cherry buttercream frosting
1cupunsalted butter, softened(2 sticks)
3cupspowdered sugar
1/4cupmaraschino cherry juice (from the jar)
1tspvanilla extract

Preparation
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, mix together cake mix, Dr Pepper, oil, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.
Gently fold in the cherry pie filling.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool completely before frosting.
Frosting
Beat softened butter until light and fluffy.
Gradually add powdered sugar, one cup at a time.
Mix in cherry juice and vanilla until smooth and pink.
Spread the frosting over the cooled cake and top with chopped maraschino cherries if desired.
