Instructions

How to Make Rømmegrøt

  • Pour whole milk into a heavy-bottomed saucepan and warm it over medium heat, stirring continuously until it reaches 195°F.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and kosher salt.
  • In another small saucepan, gently melt the salted butter over low heat.
  • When the milk reaches the desired temperature, add the melted butter to the flour mixture and stir until a thick paste forms.
  • Gradually fold this paste into the heated milk, stirring constantly until it begins to boil, then reduce heat and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Spoon the thick Rømmegrøt into bowls, drizzle with warm melted butter, and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar.

Notes

Rømmegrøt can be served warm and topped with fresh berries or a drizzle of honey for a unique twist. It can also be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
