medium
green cabbage (about 2–2½ pounds), thinly sliced

yellow onions, thinly sliced

vegetable or chicken broth

tablespoons
butter or vegetable oil
Instructions
Slice cabbage into thin shreds and onions into thin half-moons.
Place cabbage and onions into the slow cooker and toss lightly.
Drizzle butter or oil evenly over the vegetables.
Pour broth over the vegetables and gently press them down so most are submerged.
Cover and cook on LOW for 7–8 hours or HIGH for 3½–4 hours until cabbage is tender.
Stir gently before serving and enjoy hot.
Notes
Add rice, barley, or pasta in the last 30 minutes if you want a heartier soup.
