Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2/3 cup sugar (for topping)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and grease two loaf pans.
  • Cream butter, 2 cups sugar, and eggs until smooth.
  • Add buttermilk, flour, and baking soda and mix until just combined.
  • Divide batter evenly between the loaf pans.
  • Mix 2/3 cup sugar and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
  • Sprinkle most of the cinnamon mixture over the batter.
  • Add remaining batter and sprinkle with the rest of the cinnamon mixture.
  • Swirl with a knife to create a cinnamon pattern.
  • Bake for 45–50 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Cool in pans for 20 minutes before removing.

Notes

This recipe makes two loaves and freezes well for later enjoyment.
