Ingredients

  • 2 to 2½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 bottle (12–16 oz) barbecue sauce or sweet & tangy marinade
  • ½ cup chicken broth or water

Instructions

  • Lightly spray the slow cooker insert with cooking spray or rub with oil.
  • Place chicken breasts in a single layer in the slow cooker.
  • Mix barbecue sauce and chicken broth until smooth, then pour over chicken.
  • Cook on LOW for 4–6 hours or HIGH for 2½–3½ hours until tender.
  • Shred chicken directly in the slow cooker and stir to coat with sauce.
  • Turn to WARM and let sit 10–15 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, let the shredded chicken sit in the sauce for 10–15 minutes before serving.
