Ingredients

  • 2-3 lbs pork shoulder, loin, or butt
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary (optional)
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper

Instructions

  • Place the pork in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, and minced garlic until combined.
  • Pour the orange mixture over the pork and season with salt, pepper, and optional herbs.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours until the pork is tender and easily pulled apart.
  • Remove the pork and shred with two forks.
  • Return shredded pork to the slow cooker and stir into the sauce before serving.

Notes

For extra citrus flavor, add fresh orange zest before serving. Use pork shoulder for the most tender texture. Sauce can be thickened on the stovetop if desired.
