Ingredients

  • 1 large French bread loaf, sliced in half lengthwise
  • 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye steak (or shaved beef)
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 2 tbsp butter or oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • shredded mozzarella for extra melt (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place bread halves on a baking sheet and toast for 5 minutes.
  • Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté onions, peppers, and mushrooms until soft.
  • Add steak to the skillet, season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until steak is just done.
  • Lay provolone slices on toasted bread. Spoon steak and vegetable mixture evenly on top. Add extra cheese if desired.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Slice into strips and serve hot.

Notes

Optional: Drizzle Cheez Whiz for classic Philly style or add jalapeños for spice.
