large yellow onions, thinly sliced

butter

olive oil

beef broth

Worcestershire sauce

teaspoon
thyme

cloves
garlic, minced
to taste
salt & black pepper

cup
shredded Gruyère cheese

tablespoons
grated Parmesan (optional)
Instructions
Caramelize onions with butter, olive oil, salt, and pepper over medium heat for 20–25 minutes.
Add garlic and thyme; cook 1 minute. Stir in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce.
Stir in Gruyère (and Parmesan if using) until melted.
Place chicken in slow cooker, season lightly, and pour onion mixture over chicken.
Cook on LOW 4–5 hours or HIGH 2½–3 hours until chicken is tender.
Serve chicken with sauce over mashed potatoes, noodles, or crusty bread.
Notes
Optional Parmesan can be added for extra flavor.
