Equipment

  • Slow Cooker
  • Mixing Bowl
  • baking sheet (optional) For broiling finish

Ingredients

  • 2-3 lb pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup apple juice or apple cider
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • chopped parsley or green onions (optional garnish)

Instructions

  • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. Pat dry and season both sides with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
  • Whisk together barbecue sauce, apple juice, brown sugar, and soy sauce in a bowl until smooth.
  • Place ribs in the slow cooker standing upright or lying flat. Pour sauce evenly over ribs.
  • Cook on LOW for 6-7 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours until meat is very tender and nearly falling off the bone.
  • Optional: Transfer ribs to a baking sheet, brush with extra barbecue sauce, and broil 3-5 minutes until caramelized.
  • Serve ribs with extra sauce spooned over the top and garnish if desired.

Notes

For extra caramelization, broil the ribs for 3–5 minutes after slow cooking. Adjust sweetness or spice to taste.
