Ingredients

  • 2 lb ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cans crushed tomatoes (28 oz each)
  • 1 can tomato sauce (15 oz)
  • 1 can tomato paste (6 oz)
  • 0.5 cup red wine (optional)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp dried basil
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 0.5 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • salt, to taste
  • black pepper, to taste
  • 1 lb spaghetti

Instructions

  • Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  • Add onion and garlic. Cook until onion is soft and translucent.
  • Transfer mixture to slow cooker. Stir in tomatoes, sauce, paste, wine, sugar, and seasonings.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.
  • Cook spaghetti separately until al dente. Drain and stir into sauce 30 minutes before serving.
  • Let rest 10 minutes, then serve hot.

Notes

Cook pasta separately for best texture. Optional red wine adds depth but can be omitted.
