Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp cold butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup cold buttermilk
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • sliced cheddar or American cheese (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425°F.
  • Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  • Cut cold butter into the dry ingredients until crumbly.
  • Stir in cold buttermilk just until dough comes together.
  • Turn dough onto a floured surface and fold gently.
  • Roll dough to 1-inch thickness and cut into rounds.
  • Bake biscuits 12–15 minutes until golden.
  • Shape sausage into patties slightly larger than biscuits.
  • Cook patties in a skillet for 3–4 minutes per side.
  • Split warm biscuits and add sausage patties.
  • Add cheese if desired.
  • Serve immediately while hot.
