Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup onion, grated
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2.5 cups egg noodles, uncooked
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 pint heavy cream
  • 1.5 cups Swiss cheese, grated

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Mix ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic powder, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Roll into 1-inch meatballs.
  • Brown meatballs in olive oil over medium heat. Set aside.
  • Cook egg noodles in salted water until al dente. Drain.
  • Spread noodles in baking dish. Top with meatballs.
  • Whisk broth, Worcestershire sauce, and cream. Pour over casserole.
  • Top with Swiss cheese. Cover and bake 25 minutes. Uncover and bake 10–15 minutes until bubbly.

Notes

Let rest before serving for best texture. Reheat gently with a splash of broth or cream.
