Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled or scrubbed and sliced
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced

  • salt, to taste
  • black pepper, to taste
  • garlic powder or paprika (optional)

Instructions

  • Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced potatoes in an even layer. Cover and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes begin to soften.
  • Add the sliced onion and cook uncovered, stirring gently, until the potatoes are golden and the onions are soft and caramelized, about 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Season with salt, black pepper, and optional spices to taste.
  • Cook for a few more minutes until desired crispness is reached. Serve hot.

Notes

Slice potatoes evenly for best results. Avoid overcrowding the skillet to achieve crispy edges.
