Instructions
Rinse dried beef under warm water to remove excess salt. Pat dry and chop into bite-sized pieces.
Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add beef and sauté for 2–3 minutes.
Sprinkle flour over the beef and stir constantly for 1–2 minutes.
Gradually whisk in milk, stirring to prevent lumps.
Simmer for 3–5 minutes until thickened, adjusting with more milk if needed.
Season with black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and cayenne if using. Serve over toast.
Notes
Rinse the dried beef well to reduce saltiness before cooking.
