Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 5–6 tablespoons cold water
  • 8 cups thinly sliced apples
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Whisk flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Add eggs and water to form dough. Divide in half.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F and prepare a 9x13-inch pan. Roll one dough portion and press into pan.
  • Toss apples with sugars, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and melted butter.
  • Spread filling over crust. Roll remaining dough on top, seal edges, and cut slits.
  • Bake 40–45 minutes until golden. Cool completely.
  • Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled bars. Slice and serve.

Notes

Cool completely before glazing for clean slices.
