Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil

Instructions

  • Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder gently.
  • Shape mixture into meatballs and brown in olive oil.
  • Remove meatballs and sauté onion and garlic in the same pot.
  • Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and seasonings. Stir well.
  • Return meatballs to sauce and simmer on low for 45 minutes.

Notes

Simmering longer improves flavor. Tastes even better the next day.
