Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (icing)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted (icing)
  • 3 tablespoons milk (icing)
  • desiccated coconut

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a square baking pan.
  • Mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and baking powder in a bowl.
  • Add melted butter, egg, milk, and vanilla. Stir until smooth.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 20–25 minutes until just set.
  • Mix powdered sugar, cocoa powder, melted butter, and milk to make icing.
  • Spread icing over warm slice, sprinkle with coconut, and let set before slicing.

Notes

Ice the slice while warm for best results. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
