Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 cups peeled and sliced peaches
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar for syrup
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and grease an 8x8-inch baking dish.
  • Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and milk until smooth.
  • Spread batter evenly in the baking dish and spoon peaches over the top.
  • Bring water, sugar, and butter to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  • Carefully pour hot syrup over the dish without stirring.
  • Bake for 40–45 minutes until golden and bubbling. Serve warm.

Notes

Do not stir after pouring the hot syrup. Serve warm for best texture.
