Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheese
  • 1 apple, thinly sliced
  • black pepper or red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  • Thinly slice the apple and remove the core and seeds.
  • Butter one side of each bread slice.
  • Place two slices of bread butter-side down and add shredded cheese.
  • Arrange apple slices over the cheese and add seasoning if desired.
  • Top with more cheese and remaining bread slices butter-side up.
  • Cook in a skillet over medium heat for 3–4 minutes per side until golden and melted.

Notes

Slice apples very thin for best texture and balance.
