Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 0.75 cup milk or buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter for brushing

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F and prepare a baking sheet.
  • Whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar together.
  • Cut cold butter into the dry mixture until coarse crumbs form.
  • Stir in milk just until a soft dough forms.
  • Gently knead and divide dough into 10–12 rolls.
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden, then brush with melted butter.

Notes

Do not overmix the dough to keep the rolls tender.
