Ingredients

  • 8 slices bacon
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 cups day-old bread, cubed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.25 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp. Drain on paper towels and crumble.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and black pepper.
  • Add bread cubes, crumbled bacon, cheddar cheese, and green onions. Stir gently to combine.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 35–40 minutes until the center is set and the top is lightly golden.
  • Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use day-old bread for best texture. Let the casserole rest before slicing for clean portions.
