Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease muffin tins.
In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and all spices.
Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in molasses and buttermilk.
Gently mix dry ingredients into wet mixture. Stir in hot water and raisins.
Fill muffin cups just over halfway. Bake 20–24 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
Mix powdered sugar, vanilla, and water. Drizzle glaze over warm cakes.
Notes
Serve warm for best flavor. The spices deepen after one day of resting.
