Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed (15 oz)
  • 1 can tomato sauce (15 oz)
  • 1 can tomato paste (8 oz)
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Brown ground beef with onion in a large pot. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, kidney beans, and spices.
  • Simmer uncovered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning. Serve hot.

Notes

Simmer uncovered for best thickness.
