Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9x9-inch baking pan with nonstick spray.
  • Stir together melted butter, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla in a medium bowl.
  • Add flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. Stir until just combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips and spread batter into prepared pan.
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes until the center is set. Cool before slicing.

Notes

Bars slice best after cooling. Add nuts or toffee for variation.
