Instructions
Preheat the oven and grease a baking pan.
Mix melted butter with brown sugar and white sugar until smooth.
Add eggs and vanilla extract, stirring until combined.
Stir in flour and salt until just combined. Do not overmix.
Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if using.
Spread batter evenly in the pan and bake until edges are golden and the top is set.
Cool slightly before cutting into bars and serving.
Notes
Do not overbake. The center should stay soft for the best gooey texture.
