Instructions
Whisk milk and sugar together in a saucepan until dissolved.
Whisk eggs and cornstarch in a bowl until smooth, then slowly add to the milk while whisking.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened to a custard consistency.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and butter until smooth.
Serve warm or chill 1–2 hours before serving with toppings.
Notes
