Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb ground beef or beef and pork blend
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium carrot, finely diced
  • 1 stalk celery, finely diced
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 0.5 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp sugar (optional)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • Brown ground meat in olive oil until fully cooked, then drain excess grease.
  • Add onion, garlic, carrot, and celery to the skillet and cook until softened.
  • Transfer mixture to slow cooker and add tomatoes, sauce, paste, broth, and seasonings.
  • Cook on low for 6–8 hours or high for 3–4 hours, stirring occasionally.
  • Adjust seasoning, serve over cooked spaghetti, and top with Parmesan.

Notes

This sauce tastes even better the next day as flavors deepen.
