Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Instructions

  • Combine warm water and sugar, sprinkle yeast on top, and let sit until foamy.
  • Add olive oil and salt, then gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
  • Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled.
  • Shape dough, let rise again, brush with olive oil, and score the top.
  • Bake at 400°F until golden and hollow-sounding.

Notes

For extra crust, place a small pan of hot water in the oven while baking.
