Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork (optional)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 0.5 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste (optional)
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Soak breadcrumbs in milk until absorbed.
  • Mix soaked breadcrumbs with meat, onion, garlic, eggs, seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Shape into a loaf and place in a pan or on a baking sheet.
  • Simmer sauce ingredients in a saucepan for 10–15 minutes.
  • Top meatloaf with sauce and bake 55–70 minutes, adding more sauce near the end.

Notes

Let the meatloaf rest before slicing for best texture.
