Ingredients

sharp cheddar cheese, grated

pecans or walnuts, finely chopped

mayonnaise

onion, grated

dash
cayenne pepper
black pepper, to taste

strawberry preserves (optional)
Instructions
Combine all ingredients except preserves in a mixing bowl.
Press mixture evenly into a greased 5-cup ring mold.
Cover tightly and refrigerate for at least 5 hours or overnight.
Invert onto a serving platter and release the mold.
Fill center with strawberry preserves if desired and serve.
Notes
Chill fully for clean unmolding. Strawberry preserves add a traditional sweet contrast.
