Ingredients

  • 1 lb sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 cup pecans or walnuts, finely chopped
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 small onion, grated
  • 1 dash cayenne pepper
  • black pepper, to taste
  • 6 oz strawberry preserves (optional)

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients except preserves in a mixing bowl.
  • Press mixture evenly into a greased 5-cup ring mold.
  • Cover tightly and refrigerate for at least 5 hours or overnight.
  • Invert onto a serving platter and release the mold.
  • Fill center with strawberry preserves if desired and serve.

Notes

Chill fully for clean unmolding. Strawberry preserves add a traditional sweet contrast.
