When my son called to announce his engagement, I expected surprise.
I did not expect fear.
“Mom, her name is Danielle,” he said excitedly. “She’s amazing. You’re going to love her.”
I congratulated him, but something about the conversation bothered me.
Three months.
That was how long they had known each other.
Three months from strangers to engagement.
As a mother, I tried to keep an open mind. Still, a small voice in the back of my head told me to pay attention.
I had learned long ago that instincts are often worth listening to.
