The Crisis: A Moment of Doubt
It’s not uncommon for new parents to feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or even shocked in the first moments after birth. Hormonal changes, exhaustion, anxiety, and the life-changing reality of becoming a parent can create intense emotions.
For some fathers, unexpected feelings arise when they first see their newborn. The baby may not look the way they imagined, or circumstances surrounding the birth may trigger fears and insecurities that had never surfaced before.
Questions can appear suddenly:
- Am I ready for this?
- Can I be a good parent?
- Why do I feel disconnected?
- What if everything changes from now on?
These thoughts can be frightening, but they do not define a person’s character. What matters most is how someone responds to those emotions.
