Ingredients:
- 6 bratwursts
- 2 bottles (12 oz each) beer (lager or ale works best)
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 bell peppers (any color), sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- Hoagie or brat buns
Instructions:
- Brown the brats (optional but tasty): In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sear bratwursts for 2–3 minutes per side until nicely browned. (This step locks in flavor!)
- Layer in the slow cooker: Place sliced onions and peppers in the bottom of your slow cooker. Add garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Add brats & beer: Place browned bratwursts on top of the veggies, then pour beer over everything.
- Slow cook: Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until brats are tender and flavors meld.
- Serve: Place brats in buns, top with the onion-pepper mixture, and drizzle with some of the beer sauce.
🍽️ Serving Suggestions:
- Serve with mustard, sauerkraut, or melted cheese.
- Pair with potato salad, coleslaw, or pretzels for a full German-inspired meal.
💡 Tips:
- For a spicy kick, toss in sliced jalapeños or use hot brats.
- Use a dark beer for a deeper, richer flavor — or apple cider for a sweet twist.
