Ingredients:
- 2 whole Granny Smith apples
- 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 2 sticks (1 cup) butter
- 1½ cups sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Ground cinnamon, to taste
- 1 can (12 oz) Mountain Dew (or other citrus soda)
Instructions:
- Prep the apples: Peel, core, and cut apples into 8 slices each.
- Wrap them up: Separate crescent roll dough and wrap each apple slice in a crescent roll triangle. Pinch edges to seal. Place in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Make the sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter and stir in sugar (it will be grainy — that’s okay). Add vanilla and mix. Pour evenly over the wrapped apples.
- Add the soda: Pour Mountain Dew around (not over) the dumplings in the dish.
- Bake: Sprinkle generously with cinnamon and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35–40 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
- Serve: Let cool slightly, then serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
🍨 Serving Suggestions:
- Vanilla ice cream is a must — it melts into the syrup for pure magic!
- Add a drizzle of caramel sauce for extra indulgence.
💡 Tips:
- Use other firm apples (like Honeycrisp or Pink Lady) if you prefer.
- These reheat beautifully — just pop in the oven to crisp them back up.
